Bad Meets Evil -Hell: The Sequel -Shady Records

Eminem and Royce da 5’9”, certainly are a dynamic duo. The thing that is so great about this match-up is… that is exactly what they are, a match-up. Neither is better than the other, rather they excel in different ways. Eminem is back to his old self, showing his anger and passion in both his lyrics and his delivery. Royce on the other hand has a way of switching up the tone of his voice as well as the melodies within his cuts as is shown on “Above the Law”, produced by Mr. Porter. This ability is also especially seen in the hooks. Together they have created an album that has the entire package: great production, extreme skill, and a little humor. The track “On Everything” featuring Mike Epps shows the creativity the duo brings to the table. The concept of the track is based on a sample from one of Epps’ comedy specials, and the production works around the clip making the song creative, humorous, and brilliant. “Fast Lane”, demonstrates Royce’s ability to ride a beat and showcases the duos’ ability to play off of each other as they battle throughout each verse on the track. “The Reunion” is passionate, angry and tells a story. It is very similar to early material by D12. Although the album only has a track-list nine songs long, I would much prefer listening to a phenomenal, short album, than a mediocre, long album.
