2008 Your Music Olympicks! Brought to you by Lyon Entertainment and Your Music Magazine, which is NOW partnered with Sierra Nevada Brewing Company. Special thanks to our Santa Cruz sponsors: O’Neill Surf Shop, Indigital Recording Studio and Coffeetopia with their new location at 15th and Capitola Road.
On Friday March 21st Your Music Olympicks was back at The Blue Lagoon in Santa Cruz for the 3rd Live Performance Event. The drinks are strong, the specials are flowing and the sound has never been better! Perfect Flaw rolled the low number on the die, which put them in the opening slot. They didn’t let the recent departure of their vocalist slow them down as the belted out some instrumental metal. Misery & Company rolled the middle slot and came on strong with Reverend Scotty Valentine leading their thrash-a-billy charge. I enjoyed watching these two worlds collide. Fester (on lead guitar) was jumpin around spewing some new school shit while Bobby was playing his metal bass like a stand-up, and the Rev. was the undead greaser orchestrating the sound. My favorite band of the night was The Formaldebrides, who win the prize for best hairdos. I am so proud of those girls and how far they’ve come since the Aptos Club days. The entire band was tight and powerful. Miss Mercy has definitely found her guitar style which bonds perfectly with Saint Celia’s precise bass licks. Lexi Leigh pounded out a rock solid beat that the sassy Lady Dai was able to dance all over. Perfect Flaw was the crowd favorite and moved into the 2nd slot for the finals. |
