Interview with WATCH THEM DIE

Not even knowing that this band Watch Them Die was right in my back yard, I was asked to interview them and not really knowing that much about them, I was glad to do the interview. So I did my research, and I will be looking forward to seeing this band when they come through..

Benji - First thing can you state your name and band name for the record?
Pat Mitchell, (Pot Bill) .. My name is Pat Mitchell. They call me Pot Bill and my band is Watch Them Die.
Benji - How did the shooting of the video for the song Bastard Son go for you guys?
Pat .. It went smooth honestly. It was a 12 hour day..it went really smooth. We..ve shot 1 or 2 other videos in the past, so we kind of knew what to expect. The people we were working with were very professional and made everything really comfortable and smooth.

Benji - So tell me a little about the tour coming up with Exodus, 3 Inches of Blood and Crisis. Have you ever toured with any of these bands before?
Pat .. Never toured with any of them before. We..ve played a few shows with Crisis in the past. My band was raised on early metal throughout the late 80..s. That..s like one of our favorite bands. Every time we do a sound check, one of my guitarists always rips out with Exodus. When we heard that we were going on tour with these guys we were very excited.

Benji - Tell me why you do what you do in music?
Pat .. Me personally, it..s just an outlet for energy and it keep me out of trouble. I don..t know what I would fill my time with if I wasn..t doing music. There..s nowhere to release that kind of energy in the normal world. So it..s probably saved my life. We all put in 150
oward something that feels good.

Benji - What if any changes need to be made in the music industry?
Pat .. That..s a big question! Tricky! I don..t know if it..s a fault or something wrong with the music industry, but nowadays it..s a lot easier to avoid the street and put the record out yourself. Everyone just has all their own digital recordings, and promote and release their own record. A lot of young metal music bands are just saying fuck the music industry, recording their own records, hurting good quality record, and finding killer distribution. A lot of these bands are selling more records than bands that are involved with the music industry.

Benji - Who named the band Watch Them Die and why?
Pat .. Well..I originally came up with the name myself. We were looking for an intense and down to earth name and we wanted it to be stellar. So we thought, what..s one of the worst things that could happen. And one of those things is having a family member or a friend die and even worse is watching them die. That just stood out to us.

Benji - Craziest thing that..s happen to you guys on tour?
Pat .. There..s always leaving someone on tour, like when you stop at a gas station to take a piss and get some snacks and the fucking driver takes off. We left our guitar player behind one time. Pretty much in his underwear, no bong, and very little money. We drove at least an hour, and we were like ..oh, my God, he..s fucking gone. Dude was sitting there by the payphone, just fucking pissed. He jumped back in the van and we bailed!

Benji - Who did the cover work for the new C.D.?
Pat .. Anthony Clarkson. He was from Century Media, but he's also a good friend of ours.

Benji - Any advice to the new and upcoming bands trying to be rock stars?
Pat .. Oh fuck, that sounds like us. You just defined my band. I would say..believe in yourself man, be careful of who you trust, and when you get on stage play from your heart. Don..t do anything half assed; if you..re going to commit, commit all the way. Most important, approach with patience. There a lot of humbleness involved in all this whole process, prepare to sacrifice.
